The Aga Khan Agency for Microfinance (AKAM) is a fast growing agency of the Aga Khan Development Network, overseeing microfinance banks and institutions in fifteen countries of Central and South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. AKAM currently employs over 3,500 people throughout these various entities. Our mandate is poverty alleviation and the reduction of economic and social exclusion. Our goal is to establish sustainable institutions that extend a broad range of innovative financial services to underserved populations. We partner and collaborate with all the leading international and bilateral agencies active in the field of microfinance.

AKAM is establishing an internal Training Academy to enable economic performance, growth and the creation of a loyal, competent and self motivated workforce for AKAM. The virtual Training Academy, with a travelling faculty, will deliver a full program of courses to all AKAM units and leverage and build the capacity of local trainers to address specific cultural context. The Academy will engage in custom course development, instructional design and program definition. It will add to this a knowledge base to share tools and content that exist today in the unit and that can help local trainers to improve current training as the academy gets operational. It will also encourage on demand learning for employees through the knowledge base by providing access to self learning resources like job aides, workbooks, templates, financial planning worksheets, FAQs and tools that can have immediate impact on operations.

AKAM is recruiting a Training Manager, to be based in Geneva, Switzerland, who will be responsible for carrying forward the vision of the Academy and implement the execution plan which includes ensuring the development and delivery of courses, setting the master training schedule across the AKAM network and ensuring that faculty, content development, training delivery and evaluation are executed according to annual budget and performance targets. The Training Manager will be responsible for the management of the Academy and staff and will report to the HR Manager of AKAM.
