Later, the Vice President met the representatives of Aga Khan Foundation network who called on him to discuss the possibility of establishing a regional accreditation body for universities.
Mr. Musyoka said it was important to have a uniformed accreditation mechanism for universities in East Africa as a means for regional integration.
The Aga Khan Development Network Resident Representative, Mr. Aziz Bhaloo said the Foundation is keen on setting up the Aga Khan University of East Africa that will have campuses in Kenya, Uganda and other countries of the region.
“Since the Aga Khan Teaching University in Nairobi was accredited it has been graduating 500 to 600 nurses per year through its popular inservice courses”, said Mr. Bhaloo.
Present were the Aga Khan Foundation East Africa Regional Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Arif Neky and Richards Buell Sutton Company Associate Counsel, Mr. Taj Mitha.
