“In Islamic thought and practice, the world of the spirit and the world of daily life are inseparably intertwined. This is why, over a half century, my role as a spiritual leader has also required me to act in a host of social, economic and cultural endeavours, in order to secure and enhance the well being of the Ismailis and the communities amongst which they live.”
Extract from the Speech by Mawlana Hazar Imam at the Banquet in London, United Kingdom July 3, 2008
Likewise between the world of spirit and nature:
“Muslims believe in an all-encompassing unit of man and nature. To them there is no fundamental division between the spiritual and the material while the whole world, whether it be the earth, sea or air, or the living creatures that inhabit them, is an expression of God’s creation.”(Aga Khan IV, University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia, USA, 13 April 1984)

GOLDEN JUBILEE DEEDAR
O momins gather together and rejoice
For Shah Karim is coming to bless us with his deedar
Momins put on your best clothes
Decorate your hands with henna
Wear your precious jewels, celebrate the golden jubilee
Fifty years of Shah Karim’s Imamat
Fifty years of total dedication
To the Ismaili jamat and mankind as a whole
Through the AKDN a network of institutions
Serving every race, colour and creed
No stone has he left unturned
In the quest for the betterment of the community
Night and day with us in his thoughts
Selflessly working for our progress
Both temporal and spiritual
Reminding us of the importance of a balance
Between din and duniya
Reminding us that the soul is eternal
Shah Karim has showered us with mercy and love
And all praise is due to Allah the Lord of the worlds
Rejoice o momins rejoice for Shah Karim is coming
Recite the salawat o momins, recite the salawat
