Homayun Sakhi – Master of the Afghan Rubab

Homayun Sakhi is a master of the Afghan rubab—the double-chambered lute that’s at the heart of Afghanistan’s Pashtun klasik tradition. Born in Kabul in 1976, Sakhi was heir to one of Afghanistan’s great musical dynasties : National Geographic.

Bridges That Unite Exhibition and Special Musical Performance will feature a special musical performance with Afghan virtuoso HOMAYUN SAKHI — the outstanding Afghan rubâb player of his generation. Mr. Sakhi will be accompanied by Salar Nader, a remarkable tabla player and one of the best-known exponents of Afghan music today. The Art of the Afghan Rubâb performance is supported by the Aga Khan Music Initiative in Central Asia.
