Pakistan: PM lauds AKF for uplift in rural areas

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Monday appreciated the initiatives taken by the Aga Khan Fund [for Economic Development] (AKF-ED) for its contribution towards the economy of the country besides improving the standard of living of the people living the remote areas.

Talking to Prince Karim Aga Khan’s representative [Sultan Allana] and Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development President Sultan Ali Allana, the prime minister said efforts would be made to facilitate the working of the AKF, so that the fruits of development could reach the people at the grass-roots level.

Iqbal Waljee and Sultan Ali Allana briefed Gilani on the ongoing programmes of the AKF in various parts of the country and the Northern Areas. They said the completion of these projects would help bring improvement in the standard of living of the people.
