The World Next Door, by Kate Heartfield – World Partnership Walk

From Kate Heartfield’s blog at Ottawa Citizen

My fellow Canwest blogger Don Cayo, at the Vancouver Sun, has posted about World Partnership Walk, which is an annual event to raise money and awareness for global poverty. It started as an initiative of the Ismaili community and is an initiative of the Aga Khan Foundation Canada. As Don points out, the need for global generosity is acute at the moment.

Ottawa is lucky enough to be graced by a couple of new projects of the Aga Khan, both on Sussex Drive: the Global Centre for Pluralism and the Delegation of the Ismaili Imamat, under construction this spring (photo, above, by Bruno Schlumberger for the Citizen.)

So it would be only fitting for Ottawans to turn up in numbers for the World Partnership Walk. There’s about a month left to get organized and get fundraising; the Ottawa version of the walk is scheduled for June 1.
