Hon. Jason Kenney, Secretary of State, sends Navroz and Milad Best Wishes

Mawlid al-Nabiy, the anniversary of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, is one of the three largest celebrations of the Islamic calendar. Muslims in Canada and around the world celebrate the Prophet’s birth, life, and teachings with prayers, readings from the Qu’ran, feasts, good deeds, and compassion toward the poor.

As Secretary of State (Multiculturalism and Canadian Identity) and on behalf of the Government of Canada, I encourage Canadians to join me in extending best wishes to everyone celebrating Mawlid al-Nabiy.

Greetings to everyone celebrating Now Ruz, the Persian New Year.
Now Ruz, which means ‘new day,’ is celebrated around the world by Iranians, Afghanis, and others. It takes place at the exact time of the spring equinox, symbolizing the renewal of the seasons and life.

As the Secretary of State (Multiculturalism and Canadian Identity), I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone celebrating Now Ruz a healthy and happy holiday.
