The Aga Khan Foundation’s ‘Bridges that Unite’ exhibition at the Victoria conference centre will be the backdrop to recognizing locals involved in overseas humanitarian aid tonight.

Four organizations will receive ‘thank-yous’ from langford councilor Denise Blackwell for their grassroots efforts to help people in developing countries.

Fire chief Bob Beckett says the presentation and the reasons behind the acknowledgment share a common theme. “part of the Aga Khan Foundation exhibition shows some of the work that has been completed and that’s ongoing. it’s very moving and it’s wonderful to know how generous Canada is and how generous Canadians are on a whole.”

Langford firefighters will be acknowledged for sending fire fighting equipment to Afghanistan, while students at a number of west shore schools will be thanked for gathering hygiene packages for overseas orphanages.
