MIRPUR: The Agha Khan Development Network (AKDN) has inked an integrated plan, in collaboration with the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) agriculture department to start a series of development projects for the speedy uplift of the agriculture sector in Azad Jammu Kashmir, said AKDN officials during a meeting in which members of the AJK Agriculture Department and progressive farmers of Azad Kashmir in Mirpur.
The meeting was convened to finalize plan to carry out study for identifying various agriculture uplift projects in the liberated territory.
The meeting was informed that the AKDN intends to launch short, medium and long-term projects in different fields of the agriculture sector in Azad Kashmir, but the main focus is on the development of horticulture sector in order to increase the production of fruits, vegetables and flowers in order to meet the requirements of the people.
These projects would be started all over Azad Kashmir in the near future after the completion of identifying the project study.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Director Agriculture Mirza Khalid Mahmood, which was also attended by AKDN Management Consultant Jafar Hayat, Horticulturist South Dr Imtiaz Ahmad, agricultural scientists and progressive farmers of the area.
