Healthy work environment stressed for nurses

Speakers acknowledged the role of nurses and emphasised the significance of healthy and harassment-free work environment for them at achieving satisfaction of patients and their other performance related goals at the Annual Symposium of Nurses at the Aga Khan University.

Dr Saeeda Malik, Sindh Minister for Women Development defined a healthy work environment as the one that maximised the health and well-being of nurses as well as ensured quality patient outcomes and organisational performance, and said that such an environment was ‘the key to effective delivery of nursing services.’ Dr Malik was the chief guest at the International Nurses Day Symposium.

The daylong event, themed ‘Positive practice environments: quality workplaces enhance quality patient care’ also included three concurrent working sessions and attracted a large number of nurses and nursing leaders from AKU as well as other hospitals.
