Pluralism is Strength – talk at Booni Chitral

Biyar Local Support Organization (BLSO) with the help of Aga Khan Education Service Pakistan Chitral arranged two days workshop one day each for male and female on 6 and 7 June 2007.

The target groups of the workshop were Imam Sahiban of Masajids, Mukhi Sahiban of Jamat Khanas, other religious and village leaders, lady councilors, lady teachers, and youth. About 300 people participated in three sittings of workshops.

Speakers said one of the major causes of backwardness of Chitral is religious, ethical, regional and gender discrimination. Now it is the era of meritocracy so we have to accept each other and only to consider pure merit for our day to day affairs.

The prominent international scholars of International Islamic University Dawah Academy Professor Assim, Dr Inam, and Professor Shakir delivered lectures on “Pluralism is Strength.” BLSO also arranged a programme for youth with the help of Anjuman Taraqi Khowar Halqa Booni that ended with a Mushaera, Professor Asim and Professor Shakir, Mowla Nigah, Iniyat Ullah Asser, Zakir Zakhmi, Sarfaraz Ali, Laghal Zaman, Alla u Din and Shafiq Ahmad presented their Urdu verses. Mowla Nigh Ustad also presented a gift of his Book Dewan Baba Seer to the Scholars of IIU Islamabad. The scholars also visited the Pamir Public School and recommended some useful books for the library.

All the participants appreciated the workshop and requested to replicate these programmes in future. The scholars appreciated efforts of BLSO and the people of the region and commented that they foresaw the people of Chitral to soon be able to take active part in the affairs of Pakistan.
