The Serena Environmental Society is organising a walk on Sunday morning to urge citizens and the corporate sector to promote a clean, green environment.Islamabad Serena Hotel General Manager Khaled Helmy announced this at a press conference on Friday. “The objective of the walk is also to promote tourism in the country,” he said.
Hotel Marketing Director Azam Jamil said, “Our ultimate success depends on Pakistan’s environment because without a beautiful country, our customers will stop visiting. Our company’s future and the country’s environment are interrelated,” he added. Dr Irfan Khan, another official, said an integrated environmental management system was being set up at the Serena Hotel for the efficient use of water and power.
Others said the administration had saved 48 million litres of water, 3.5 million units of electricity, 17 million cubic feet of gas and reduced the pollution load of 1,014 kg of detergents through environment friendly practices in laundry since the hotel had been set up.
