Recognized by Time Magazine, this is a collection of pictures at Flickr, of award winning photographer from Pakistan: Ali Khurshid.
Hunza Valley and Chitral is going through some tough times these days. Aga Khan Foundation is diligently working with Pakistan government to restore the situation. We hope that the area recovers soon from the tragic grip of mother nature.

I have always been a sucker for pristine natural scenes and this series of photographs has an abundance of them. Except for the lofty, craggy, snowcapped mountains and the unique, handsome people of the region, many of these scenes resemble what central Ontario(cottage country) in Canada looks like in early spring-clear lakes, snaking rivers, torrential streams from melting snow, bright sun, robust clouds and fresh air. I bet that the Hunza valley also has an abundance of newly awakening life with their chirpings and other unique sounds. Not surprising that Nasir Khusraw, who lived in this general area a thousand years ago, absorbed the sights, sounds and smells of this natural beauty and used them as metaphors and symbols to teach us about deep spiritual insights in his poetry and prose.
