Development efforts of the AKDN have completely changed social life in parts of the northern areas of Pakistan. The women who would shy away and hide their face, almost always, are now, irrespective of their age, actively living an independent social life.
The women in Gulmit Gojal celebrated World Women Day, though a bit late, on 21st of March, making it a real Navroz: a completely new day. Adult Literacy Initiatives have enabled aged women, who were not fortunate enough to read in schools, to curve their own niche in the relatively advanced society, thanks to AKDN and the dynamic leadership of Mawlana Hazir Imam.
