CANADA-AZERBAIJAN FRIENDSHIP GROUP SET UP IN THE CANADIAN PARLIAMENT

The constituent meeting of the Canada-Azerbaijan interparliamentary friendship group took place in the parliament of Canada, embassy of Azerbaijan to Canada said.
Representative of the Liberal Party Mrs. Yasmin Ratansi highlighted the importance of creating the group for the first time in the history of both countries, expressing hope that the group will promote expansion of ties in the political, economic, cultural and scientific spheres. Y. Ratansi expressed her desire that business circles of Cananda would actively work in Azerbaijan.
Ambassador of Azerbaijan F. Gurbanov said that expansion of interparliamentary cooperation would be helpful in terms of development of the Canada-Azerbaijan relationship, stressing the importance of cooperation for both sides in a variety of fields.
Then, the constitution of the group was endorsed with Yasmin Ratansi elected as a chairwoman. The group also included members of different parties in the Canadian parliament.
