A range of researchers from three countries would also serve as mentors to the younger researchers during the workshop
The Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) will host young researchers from the UK, Kenya, and South Africa at an interactive workshop looking at maternal, neonatal, child, and adolescent health (MNCAH), in Johannesburg from Monday to Friday.
In a statement, the HSRC said the workshop – under the researcher links programme funded by the British Council in partnership with the Newton Fund – aimed to support international development-relevant research in MNCAH, contribute to capacity building of early career researchers, establish new research links or significantly develop existing links with the potential for longer term sustainability, and enhance further funding applications to the Newton Fund or other programmes.
“The workshop will bring together theories on best practice in the field of maternal, neonatal, child, and adolescent health, and will be co-ordinated by three leading researchers – Dr Kalipso Chalkidou from Imperial College (UK), Professor William Macharia from The Aga Khan University (Kenya), and Professor Priscilla Reddy from the HSRC.”
