The International Forum is a unique initiative of WUSC – World University Service of Canada – and CECI – the Centre for International Studies and Cooperation. The fifth annual International Forum was held in Ottawa, from January 22 to 23, 2016.
The International Forum is an exciting annual gathering where the best ideas and practices for international development are shared. The Forum brings together government delegates, northern international cooperation organizations, southern civil society actors and representatives from the private sector, as well as youth, researchers and international development specialists.
Farah Chandani – Senior Consultant / Project Manager, Youth Economic Opportunities MEDA
Role at MEDA ‒ Farah is responsible for promoting improved livelihoods, increased employment and entrepreneurship opportunities, and better financial inclusion for young women and men around the world, including research and analysis on these topics. She is also responsible for business development for the Youth Team and manages local and international donor relations and consultants. Farah currently manages the financial inclusion component of the DFATD funded Nigeria YouLead Project, being led by CUSO. The project began in 2014 and will run for five years.
Experience ‒ Farah has over 15 years’ experience as an International Development professional. Her career began as an Evaluation Officer for the Canadian International Development Agency (now known as DFATD) and since then, has worked as an Analyst and Project Officer for the Regional Africa Program, the Pakistan Program, the China Program and most recently Partnership Programming. Farah earned her Masters of Science specializing in Rural Planning and International Development at the University of Guelph and her B.Sc specializing in Psychology at Queen’s University. Her specialties include: women’s economic empowerment and gender equality programming; youth programming; and results-based management training, monitoring and evaluation.
