United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD)-Empretec Entrepreneurial Training Workshop
Dr. Farida Virani – Professor and Head of Department – HR & Behavioural Sciences who also is a Facilitator for the Empretec programme in India, successfully completed the Empretec Training Workshop (ETW) held at Bengaluru ITC – Windsor Manor from 21st – 26th April 2014. The participants comprised a wide spectrum of participants, from young and aspiring entrepreneurs, to government officials and highly seasoned business persons, some of whom were nominated by banks, chambers of commerce and government agencies and leading NGO’s.
Empretec is the flagship capacity-building programme of the United Nations, managed by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). Its aim is to promote innovative and internationally competitive, sustainable small and medium enterprises. Empretec is based on a methodology developed originally at Harvard University and tested in 70 countries before its adoption. The ETW identifies and reinforces personal entrepreneurial competencies in forward-looking entrepreneurs and promotes an entrepreneurial spirit in managers of large corporations. The programme has been endorsed by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, which expressed support for its adoption by financial institutions and industry organizations/associations.
