Ottawa, 7 February 2014 — The Prime Minister of Canada, The Right Honourable Stephen Harper announced today that he has invited His Highness the Aga Khan to deliver an historic address to Parliament, during an official visit to Canada later this month – a rare privilege normally reserved for heads of state and government.
“Our Government is honoured to once again welcome His Highness the Aga Khan to Canada. Our country has a warm and lasting friendship with His Highness, who was granted honourary Canadian citizenship for his leadership as a champion of international development, pluralism and tolerance around the world,” said Prime Minister Stephen Harper in a press release issued by the Canadian government.
