Electricity generation in Pakistan: Unlocking the potential of small power plants

The Pakistani government is planning to involve the World Bank in unlocking the untapped hydropower potential of Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) in order to overcome an energy crisis. Earlier in 2011, a joint study by the World Bank, ADB, Aga Khan Development Network, and G-B government identified that G-B can contribute 42,000MW to the national grid.
