In 2005, brothers and Me to We founders Craig and Marc Kielburger teamed up with Canadian Living magazine to celebrate true heroes by creating the first ever Canadian Living Me to We Awards.
Now in its eighth year, the Canadian Living Me to We Awards shine the spotlight on ordinary Canadians making an extraordinary difference in the world–thinking less about me and more about we.
Social Action
Recognize an individual who has addressed the root causes of social, environmental, economic or political issues and, in doing so, has made Canada a better place.
Salina is passionate about international development and diplomacy. She has served as a World Vision Youth Ambassador in Rwanda, a United Nations Panelist on Disaster Risk Reduction in New York, and a Global Platform Youth Facilitator in Geneva. As a young Muslim woman whose faith is often misrepresented by the media and society, Salina has become a champion for justice and equality. As a World Vision Youth Ambassador she brings clarity to discussions about faith, and bridges the gap in understanding – all the while representing a Christian-based organization as a Muslim. Salina has also taught religious studies at a Baptist summer camp, and has led Hanukkah day camps at a Jewish Community Centre. Salina has also spent time in Guatemala teaching in a rural community. She naturally stands out as a youth activist due to her phenomenal participation, unwavering resolve and genuine compassion.
