Ismaili Tariqah and Religious Education Board (ITREB) organized a Seerut Conference in connection with the Eid Milad Al Nabi (SAW), at Serena Hotel Gilgit. Deputy Speaker of the Northern Areas Legislative Council, Asad Zaidi was the chief guest on the auspicious occasion. A large number of local political representatives and social activists participated in the conference. Inayat Ullah Shumali, leader GBNA, Captain (R) Sikandar Ali and Mrs. Noor Al Aien were also present in the gathering. Members of civil society, representatives of government departments and NGOs were also present in a huge number.
The speakers highlighted the “Seerut” of Holy Prophet Muhammad Mustafa (SAW) and emphasize the need to cultivate and nurture deep fraternal ties among the different sects living in northern areas, in particular, and the Islamic Ummah, in general. Naats were also recited in praise of the holy prophet. After the sectarian carnage, that took lives of hundreds of people during the last two years, people of the three major sects are actively participating in events and programs that emphasize peace, fraternal ties and harmony.
I am Dr. Azad Wali Khan working for AKDN in earthquake rehabilitation programme in Kashmir. It gave me a deep pleasure when I read this news. I think now our ITERB is in right direction according to our beloved Hazir Imam’s vision for Islamic harmony and brotherhood. We can play a pivotal role in bringing peace and stability in the region. We have to promote social well being as we are living in these mountains for thousands of years and have cultural similarities. This is our Hazir Imam’s vision. Congratulation to ITERB.
