TORONTO, Nov. 22, 2018 /CNW/ – The list of Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Award Winners presented by KPMG, was released today paying tribute to the outstanding women across Canada who have advocated for diversity in the workforce, and who serve as an inspiration for the next generation of leaders.
The Top 100 Awards span the private, public and not-for-profit sectors, with the initial candidates selected by WXN’s Diversity Council. The final vetting process for the 2018 Top 100 Award Winners was completed by WXN’s 2017-2018 Diversity Champions.

Zahra Ebrahim is the co-Leader of Doblin, Monitor Deloitte’s innovation and design thinking practice in Canada. In the past three years she has scaled it to the largest Human-Centered Design practice in the country, now amongst the most inclusive and sought after employers for innovators, designers, researchers, and strategists. In her role, she leads teams through design-driven, user-centred transformation projects across the public and private sectors. She leverages her deep knowledge in bringing together diverse teams of integrated thinkers to help organizations find strategic opportunities to better understand their users. She is among a small cohort of leaders in this country who have effectively brought design-led approaches to Canada’s most established institutions.
Ten years ago, Zahra founded and led one of Canada’s first design-led innovation firms, focused exclusively on doing deep research with end-users to co-design towards better social outcomes. Through this, she worked with Canada’s largest charities, philanthropic organizations, and governing bodies to help them understand how to better engage the people they’re trying to serve. She has been deeply engaged in using participatory processes to engaged communities in the design of policies, services, and infrastructure that directly affects their day-to-day lives.
In her spare time, Zahra actively serves on boards and as an advisor to a broad range of city building and social justice initiatives. She chairs the board of Jane’s Walk, serves as Vice-Chair of the board of St. Stephen’s Community House, and is an advisor for Toronto Public Library, Centre for Connected Communities, Progress Toronto, and Resilient TO. Zahra is an expert advisor and sought after speaker on the topics of user-centered design, innovation, urban equity, city building, policy innovation, and institutional transformation.
